Hey everybody!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I started a DeviantArt page here, which I will be updating with art pretty regularly, and posting more behind the scenes random stuff here on this blog. I'm in process of updating, renovating, cleaning house, so everything will be good to go in a very short while.

Puppet time!

Nike has put out a couple of hilarious commercials, starring puppet versions of Kobe Bryant and LeBron as roomates. I love the acting in this one, especially with the whole cookie bit:

"Beat Girl" Illustration!

Everymonth, the monthly manga magazine Shojo Beat features a different take on their mascot "Beat Girl". In the past, artists like Pascal Campion, Vera Brosgol, and Clio Chang have contributed their unique interpretations of the red head, and recently I had the honor of also drawing her for the May issue! The illustration can be found next to the editors letter, which talks about this month's topics of Anime, snacks, and a build-it-yourself ottoman:

Sketchcards for March of Dimes!

Hey everybody!

I recently had the honor of contributing some original sketch cards to an online fundraiser for March of Dimes. With the theme "Superheroes for Babies", and headed up by Steven Frank, an impressive lineup of artists, including Dean Yeagle, Billy Tan and Jim Mahfood, have contributed over 500 original cards for a great cause! You can check out the auction here.

These are the cards I contributed:

Steven has also gotten the permission of Archie Comics to do the first ever Archie Sketch card series, with all profits also going to March of Dimes. I'll be doing about 24 cards for that as well-- woohoo!! Here's an interview with Steven explaining these projects more in depth. Please check these out if you have a chance!

G.I. Joe: Resolute!

Hey everybody!

A quick reminder that starting this Friday on Adult Swim, "G.I. Joe: Resolute" will be finally airing in all of its action-packed glory! I had the honor of working with Joaquim Dos Santos over at Titmouse Studios last year (along with Dave Johnson and Dan Norton) and can't wait for everyone to check it out!

The series is broken up into 10 five minute episodes, with the eleventh episode being a ten minute finale. I believe after tomorrow's airing, the episodes will also be shown on adultswim.com, with the finale airing on t.v on April 25th. Joachim is one of the best action animation directors around (and most talented artists I know), and I can't wait for audiences to see what he and the whole amazing crew has produced!

Here's the trailer:

Flight of the Conchords

The one and only "Flight of the Conchords" just recently had a poster contest on their site, where the winner gets his/her poster printed, and a fancy one signed and framed by the band. Well, I thought I might as well give it a try since I totally love their show and their music.

Well, I wasn't able to upload it in time, and basically missed the deadline by an hour. (Sigh)......... anywho, here was my entry:

Hello again!

Hey guys! So time flew by WAY too quickly since the last post, and, well, I haven't been giving the blog the love it needs.....(sorry!).....

If you guys have access to Cartoon Network, please tune in this Friday Oct.24th at 9pm for my directorial debut for the show "Clone Wars"!
The episode is entitled "Rookies", and you can read a spiffy synopsis of it here. It technically was the 14th show of the first season, but got bumped to be the 5th episode to be aired. Hope you enjoy!

Also, on Oct. 26th in Portland, Oregon and Fleminton, New Jersey is the official Wonder Woman Day III! It is an event celebrating the beautiful Amazonian, with a silent art auction of which proceeds go to benefit shelters for victims of domestic violence and help the Women's Crisis line. Please check it out!

Alright! The show is almost here, and here are some shameless plugs and updates on what's going on....

At table #E08 Hye-Jung and I will be selling our new girlie book "Flavor:01", which is presented in a double-sided "flip" book style. Here are the covers:

And here is a sneak peek of a few of my pieces in there:

Also, if you have a moment, please come on by The Those Guys at #1033, where there will be lots of cool stuff, like shirts, prints and new books to peruse...

Dean Yeagle will be releasing his new book "The Mandy Portrait Gallery" at booth #1035. I had the honor of contributing a piece to the book, which contains pieces by J. Scott Campbell, William Stout, Bobby Chiu, Bill Presing, Kei Acedera, Mike Roush, Sergio Aragones, and many more!

These are all being published through Alberto Ruiz's Brandstudio Press, which will be at table #H03. Please stop on by if you have a chance!

And last but not least, on Sunday in room 6A is the
world premiere of "Sockbaby 4"!
On the panel for the screening will be Doug TenNapel, John Soares,
Jon Heder, Dan Heder and Rob Schrab. The crew was
super nice to invite me back to do the music, which was a blast
because the film is so much fun! Come check it out!!

Sockbaby 4!

That's right! Doug TenNapel and the fine folks of Westhavenbrook are at it again, and have wrapped filming on "Sockbaby 4"! Along for the ride they got Doug Jones, Jon Heder and Dan Heder to participate in the fisticuffs! It's gonna be the most exciting chapter of the series yet! I am currently working on the music for the film, keeping the cinematic 70's Funk vibe throughout, and the completed film will be shown at the San Diego Comic Con at the end of July.

Check out the trailer!

Silverstein!

Here's a piece I did for my friend Steven Gettis, for his ever growing collection of literary-themed original art. He has quite an amazing line-up of artists (including Alex Toth, John Buscema, Bruce Timm, Adam Hughes....), and I was very honored that Steven asked me to contribute! I've always loved the stories and rhymes of Shel Silverstein growing up, so I attempted to do an artsy portrait of him:

Conventions and Cartoons!

Hey! More updates!

This weekend is the Calgary Expo up in Canada, and there is quite a list of artists and celebrities who'll be there with lots of goodies! Hye-Jung Kim and I will be there promoting our upcoming
book "Flavor: 01" (released through Alberto Ruiz's Brand Studio) and selling prints.
Everyone will also have a chance to buy an exclusive Calgary Expo Artbook which has some
delicious art from several of the attending artists (including us!), and many of the original pieces will be sold at a live auction, with proceeds going to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary. Please come on by if you're in the area!

(Here is a teaser poster for the book:)

Also, this Saturday, April 26th at 10:30 am, Nickelodeon is showing their new cartoon series
called "The Mighty B!" It is a hilarious show, co-created by Amy Poehler (of SNL) and the super talented Erik Wiese (who has worked on everything from Danny Phantom to Samurai Jack to Spongebob). From the sneak peeks I've gotten of the show, it's definitely one to check out! I also had the honor of doing a storyboard for one of the later episodes of
season one, so please keep an eye out for that as well!

Alrighty! Thanks for stoppin' by!

Whaleboy and Friends

Here's a sneak peek of a piece I did for Patrick Morgan and crew, for their upcoming Whaleboy Toy release party at Munkey King this Thursday. Come on down to the show if you are in the area!

I also saw Ratatouille this weekend, and loved it! Such a fun and beautifully animated film-- the acting in it was amazing, and the character designs were super appealing. We had just eaten dinner before seeing the movie, but the food in the movie looked so delicious I was getting hungry again.... Go see it!

Animation competition - Round 1

Mike Roush and I have officially begun our bi-weekly animation competition! For each round, I create a 20 second music clip and then both of us go off and animate our own interpretation of the song. We can only use Flash for the animation, and have only the two weeks to finish it. It's really just a fun excercise to get us to experiment and hopefully put some cool visuals to music....

Here is Mike's submission:

Fishy!!

I had the opportunity to watch a really exciting, funny, and very suspenseful movie the other day. It's a Korean movie called "The Host", and it's awesome! The monster design is sweet (the FX were actually done at "The Orphanage" here in San Francisco) and the cinematography is soooo beautiful. Gotta check out this dark comedy if you get the chance!

See the trailer here.

Happy New Year!

Well, my newly redesigned website is about 95% finished, and if you go to my homepage and click on the title....it'll bring you back here! Hoooooraaaayyy!!

In the meantime, I've decided that it would probably be swell to update my blog and website more often. There won't be a new year's resolution to post a drawing everyday, but if it happens...cool. I will, however, try to keep y'all more up to date with stuff and more stuff.
Like this colored rough of a character I'm animating in a short Flash music video....

Hope everyone's 2007 has been great so far! :)
